As discussed at the last NSCAC meeting, revalidations are going out and there are several issues being reported by members:
Examples:
1. Revalidation letter on CMS website, but supplier didn’t get: we found one of our locations on the CMS list published last Wednesday; it says the letter was sent Sept 29 (but we had never received it). When I called to verify with the NSC, the rep told me yes, a letter had been sent, but she couldn’t get me a copy or even tell me the date. She did give me a 60 day extension. Since then, we have received letters for 4 other locations, and talking with the NSC we identified 3 more where we had not received letters yet.
2. Revalidation letters going to a new location: Supplier received a revalidation letter for a branch location that is pretty new… we had just been assigned our Medicare PTAN effective 04/16/2011. On the CMS website "Provider Supplier Enrollment Revalidation Page" CMS stated that: "Newly enrolled providers and suppliers that submitted (my emphasis) their enrollment applications to CMS on or after March 25, 2011, are not impacted." NOTE: YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK THE CMS LIST TO SEE IF YOUR COMPANY IS LISTED AND YOU DID NOT GET A LETTER: go to: http://www.cms.gov/MedicareProviderSupEnroll/11_Revalidations.asp#TopOfPage
3. Revalidation letters have different # of days to respond: The sample letter posted on the website states that providers have 60 days to respond; the letters I have received give us just 35 days to respond.
4. Revalidation quantity: we are getting so many of these requests, this early in the process. We have signed up for and have access to our data in PECOS. We have even submitted a few updates in PECOS (with mixed success). These are active, billing locations.
5. Suggestion the NSCAC will forward to the NSC: It would be very helpful if the NSC IVR would announce that a request had been mailed. When I checked a few, using the revalidation status choice, the IVR says 'we apologize but we do not show a revalidation for PTAN XXXXXXXXXX"; if the NSC could add a status that says "a revalidation request letter was mailed on xx/xx/xx" - we could all keep an eye on this and free up NSC reps.
Thank you to Paula Koenig for sharing these examples and suggestions. IF THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES MEMBERS ARE HAVING NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LIST – please forward them ASAP to the NSCAC office.
